Karl is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gloria (Grisson), children, Katrina Karlson, Sara Karlson (Boutoille), Joshua Karlson, Dan Thrailkill, grandchildren, Jamie, Declan, Rylan, Willow, Noah, and Sawyer, his mother, Brenda Karlson, and lastly, his best friend, Dom. JWhen Karl Karlsen was apprehended for his son’s 2008 murder in 2012, it led to an investigation that went back two decades to determine whether the house fire that took his first wife’s life in 1991 was, in fact, an accident or not. Karl met his soulmate, Gloria, at 19 years old, and he never left her side, even in death, he is with her. Karl’s greatest accomplishments will always be his dedication to his wife and journey as a father and grandfather. ![]() Karl was a gifted photographer, who always offered his services free of charge. Karlsen pleaded guilty in 2013 in Seneca County, New York to killing his son for the insurance money, and was sentenced to 15 years to life for the crime, the Calaveras Enterprise reports. He made a few beautiful and everlasting friendships there and built a love for identifying bird species. As a cardiac thoracic surgeon, Karl Karlson, MD, of Hartford, Conn., certainly knows how to recognize and treat heart disease. Karl Karlsen ended up collecting 700,000 in insurance money following his son’s death, prompting an investigation in 2012, according to the network. Karl dedicated the last decade of his life working facilities and maintenance at Cornell University’s Lab of Ornithology. The Karlson family was not surprised, as Dad will always be known for his unsolicited, yet thoughtful advice. He was later convicted for the murder of his first wife, Christina Karlsen, and his son, Levi Karlsen. Karl was born on Jto Alfred and Margaret (Trombley) Karlson. Often his words came in their most vulnerable and desperate moments.
